Back pain
Warnings of back pain
Once the spine is misaligned, it is easy to reduce the curvature of the spine and make it straight, or long-term pressure on the coccyx will cause back pain. There are many reasons for back pain, which can be roughly divided into acute and chronic. Bad sitting posture or sitting for too long is one of the most common chronic causes. In addition, most Hong Kong people lack exercise. Sudden overstretching of the back muscles will cause back pain, and may even cause intervertebral disc herniation, which requires spinal correction to treat back pain. Spinal misalignment is more difficult to detect. Once it becomes serious, it will cause the intervertebral nerve canal to deform and narrow, compress the nerve roots or nerve lines, and cause paralysis and tingling.
The causes of low back pain can be divided into two types: acute and chronic.
-Acute low back pain:
Most of the causes are caused by accidental trauma or incorrect posture. In addition, obesity, stress, osteoporosis, etc. may also cause acute low back pain. Some sudden movements will cause excessive muscle pulling and increase the load on the back muscles; the muscles cannot react quickly and correctly to protect the spine, forcing the muscles and ligaments to be over-tightened or torn.
-Chronic low back pain:
Most of the causes are due to cumulative injuries, old age, long-term incorrect posture or frequent heavy loads, which lead to the gradual decline of the lumbar spine. Incorrect posture can easily cause spinal dislocation, which forces nerves to be compressed and cause low back pain, affecting the ability to move hands and feet, and even walking or standing for too long will cause soreness and weakness in the waist. Medical conditions such as herniated disc, sciatica (trapped nerves) or ankylosing spondylitis sometimes cause low back pain. In rare cases, low back pain may be a sign of a serious problem, such as a fracture, cancer or infection.
Long-term back pain may lead to spondyloarthritis
If back pain has lasted for 3 months or more and is accompanied by the following symptoms, you may have spondyloarthritis caused by immune system disorders:
-Back pain.
-Joint inflammation.
-Swelling, pain and stiffness in limb joints.
-Morning stiffness (muscle stiffness when getting up).
-Inability to bend and turn the waist.
-Heel pain.
-Unexplained fatigue.
-Poor sleep quality.
Once the above symptoms appear, you should get checked as soon as possible to avoid missing the golden period for diagnosis and treatment.
